Paolo Javier was born in Quezon City, Philippines, and raised in Las Pi.as; Katonah; al-Ma’adi; and Vancouver. He is the author of the poetry collections Court of the Dragon (Nightboat Books 2015), The Feeling Is Actual (Marsh Hawk Press 2011), 60 lv bo(e)mbs (O Books 2006), and the time at the end of this writing (Ahadada Books 2004), which received a Small Press Traffic Book of the Year Award. A featured artist in MoMA PS1’s Greater NY Show (2015) and in Queens International 2018: Volumes (2018), Javier has published three albums of sound poetry with Listening Center (David Mason), including Maybe the Sweet Honey Pours (Temporary Tapes 2018), My Aspiring Villain (PennSound 2015), and the collaborative pamphlet/cassette Ur’lyeh/Aklopolis (Texte und T.ne, 2016). Begun in 2005, he finally completed OBB aka The Original Brown Boy, a weird postcolonial techno dreampop comics poem that includes illustrations by Alex Tarampi and Ernest Concepcion (Nightboat Books 2020).
